The first section is basically my take on Exalted. Right now I'm just copying up my notes so everything's very raw while I put down my ideas. I'll work on editing everything and making it more coherent later. As a result things will contradict the in game canon and even be self contradictory especially since not all my notes are copied in chronological order. They've been typed up without editing to remain as close as possible to my original vision.

Wyld, Waypoints, Fair Folk, Lunars, Luna, Shaping Attacks, Moonsilver Artefacts, Creation of Moonsilver, Wonders

A waypoint marks the extent a Fair Folk affects an area. That's what defines it's boundaries

When a Lunar receives Exaltation they become something very strange, a coherent form of Wyld energy (to be able to live in their environment and combat the Fair Folk Luna was the same.) Unlike shaped Fair Folk they are self sustaining and do not need to feed on dreams or Virtues in order to maintain their presence in Creation, needing only the sustenance an ordinary mortal does. Likewise they enter the deep Wyld freely existing as a self conscious idea the way other Fair Folk do. Because they are effectively in the depths of the Wyld even when in Creation they can change their form at will.

Lunars make moonsilver artefacts out of Fair Folk Graces (as a questor would make a Wyld artefact) or the Essences of lesser Fair Folk. They can create a moonsilver Wonder out of the Essence of a powerful unshaped Fair Folk. The Fair Folk or it's Grace as an entity is destroyed but it is still dream and is gossamer (such is the fate of the Fair Folk that are vanquished by the Lunars) which is then transformed into moonsilver and formed into the artefact the Lunar wishes to create. Only the most _____ gods of dreams whose power is as terrible as it is legendary, can be formed into the greatest of moonsilver Wonders such as Royal Warstriders.
When vanquished by a Lunar their identity is destroyed and they become nothing but gossamer. The Lunar may then convert this into moonsilver to make their desired artefact. The Fair Folk fear this fate above all others and hate the Lunars for trying to inflict it on them and will fight the Lunars bitterly because they know their very survival is at stake, and consequently they will show no mercy if they win.
By destroying all five of a Fair Folk's Graces they render them, their Essence into gossamer.
One obvious roleplaying idea that comes to mind is playing emanations of an unshaped played by the storyteller.
The Fair Folk take assaults by the Lunars very personally. Since their identity is what they are, it's the difference between them and an inchoate quantity of gossamer, they take any attempt to destroy it very seriously. Other Fair Folk challenge it and try to control it through never ending shaping combat, predators exist who try to consume other Fair Folk and make them their own, but actually trying to undo a Fair Folk so it won't exist even as part of another being is a horror more sinister to them than anything they could otherwise imagine. Luna used to hunt Fair Folk having to overcome raksha who's Essence was as great as her's through guile and trickery and was infamous among the raksha for it. Having ascended to Yu-Shan after the Primordial War, this task she handed down to her champions.

As a person travels further into the Wyld it's power becomes more and more real. In Creation the power of the Fair Folk that does not affect matter is mere illusion, no more real than the onlooker's dreams. In the Wyld however, people are whittled down to their core Essence. Since all is Essence in the Wyld shaping attacks are real and people's Essences are completely exposed to the Fair Folk's magic.

Fair Folk, Lunars, Shapeshifting, World Walking

Lunar Exalted do not appear to exist definitively on either side fo the gate of Sundraprisha. They exist as physical beings but can change shape at will. A feat not even the Fair Folk can perform in Creation.
In the Wyld things do not exist in physical locations but rather in existential states.

"Reality is a dream. We are real."
Sensory cognizance in the Wyld is a mere effect of the Fair Folk's ability to manipulate it. The phantasms they create in reality and the bordermarches are mer illusions. No one can actually perceive the Wyld. Sensory cognizance is a result of the Fair Folk or the character using Charms that affect the Wyld. Thoughts can be communicated directly through the use of Charms creating mental impressions that are completely 'real.'
It is in this arena that Lunar Charms are designed to work, giving them a way to combat the Fair Folk. In the Wyld a behemoth is just an idea in the mind of a formless entity. Lesser beings than Chaos Lords exist within the greater ones that constitute waypoints. In a sense they live within their mind. As such they are to a great degree subject to it, or if they are stronger, can subject it.
One doesn't exist anywhere in the Wyld in the sense that one does in Creation. A Freehold is a mind of an unshaped Fair Folk that lesser components of such beings can enter and leave.
A Fair Folk can force an idea through the Gate of Sundraprisha to make it take on a physical form. Lunars have the blasphemous ability to walk through the Wyld in their physical form, for they are a physical entity and a self-aware concept (like the Fair Folk) at the same time. Solars can 'world walk' through their overpowering connection to Creation. By using Charms they are simply too strongly tied to Creation for the Wyld to confirm or deny.

Shaping attacks and direct feeding on Virtues represent actions taking place between Fair Folk although such interactions are impossible to perceive directly and are visible only through mindscapes.

Rather than               with one another through the process of physical interaction they do so directly. Although what one perceives as being indirect interaction is in fact one mind communicating directly with another.

Conflicts between Emanations and minions in a Freehold do not truly represent conflicts between entities but trains of thought through the unshaped's mind. An Exalted champion can enter an Unshaped's mind by entering a Freehold (since that's what an unshaped is) and combat with it by assaulting it's Emanations.

The Lunars have a fundamental connection with the raksha in that they hold the possibility for infinite potential. And yet because their nature is similar to the raksha yet different, their Exaltation makes them hostile to the raksha,

The movements, rearrangements of an unshaped raksha's waypoints are not physical movements, since physical has no meaning in the Wyld, but simply means the order in which a character has to pass through them.
The Wyld turns normal notions of existence on their head. Physical existence is merely an illusion within the Wyld while thoughts are reality. One raksha can consume another by imagining itself doing so as often happens when two raksha meet in order for one of them to grow greater and protect itself from consumption by another. This form of interaction is characteristic of use of the Sword. However two raksha can avoid deadly conflict through interaction through the Staff. One may supplicate itself to another through the Cup or join and work together through the Ring. Telling the strength of another raksha is inherently difficult since they often attempt to disguise it in one way or another. Either boasting false strength to scare away potential predators, or hiding their strength to conceal weakness, allow them to assess a foe or lure them to a point where they can be attacked. It's into this hellish realm of predatory horror that Lunars venture.

"We remain convinced that this is the best defensive posture to adopt in order to minimise casualties when the Great Old Ones return from beyond the stars to eat our brains."

Lunars, Phases of the Moon, Full Moon

The Fair Folk are a passion given form. Much the same could be said about the Lunars.
People fear the full moon because it's when the Wyld is at it's strongest and yet it's the time when Creation defence against it is at it's strongest. To the Lunars it's a call to arms. All of the unite for battle against the Fair Folk under the full moon under the direction of the Full Moon Caste. At the same time when the moon does not appear people miss it's radiance and miss the thrill of risk that it brings. The Full Moons are those who thrive on risk. They don't display courage in the face of danger like the Solars do but actively seek it out.
The Gold Faction still maintain that if the Usurpation and the Wyld Hunt hadn't taken place then the Fair Folk invasion would never have happened.
To Lunars the Wyld is at the same time the source of their strength and their enemy.
Dangerously, the Fair Folk also see the Moon and feel their power growing with it's waxing phase and are called into Creation when it shines.

Associations    Full Moon Caste: Valour        Half Moon Caste: Temperence
Waxing Moon Caste: Compassion   Waning Moon Caste: Conviction
The Waxing Moons were experts at making people feel as they feel. Waning Moons were known for being solitary, for relying on no one but themselves.

The North is a lot like the Underworld. It is dark a lot of the time especially in winter. The moon shines over the north for months. The north was a stronghold of the Lunars just as the south was a stronghold of the Solars and has a disproportionate number of Lunar manses. The Chosen of the Moon were drawn to this shadowy and eldrich land.
In shadowlands the ground is covered in the ashes of the dead. A shadowland is created when the land is completely a realm of death. Shadowlands often occur in graveyards and other places where death has dominated Creation and became the only thing present there the Essence of the Underworld spills through it. Graveyards are often surrounded by iron fences to stop the dead from escaping and are carefully warded.
Just as the Solars were made to command Creation, the Lunars were made to live beyond it, both it's physical boundaries, it's social control and some say it's reason.
Just as the moon only shines brightly during the sun's absence the Lunars were made as a juxtaposition of the Solars, those who didn't need the Solars' guidance. Far from having a controlling bond with the Solars Lunars seemed almost designed to oppose them at times. In the Old Realm the Solars found the Lunars invaluable allies and infuriating obstacles. Often the feeling was mutual.
The Solars could forge new stretches of Creation and condemn it's enemies but the Wyld was endless and the Lunars could enter and leave it with impunity.

The Loom of Fate is the font of the Sidereals' power. So the Wyld is the source of the Lunars' power. Due to it's infinite potential and the Lunars' ability to use it, their power is potentially limitless, restrained only by their Essence. This is how they manage to battle against mighty Fair Folk in a place beyond Creation and Fate, beyond reality itself. The Solars may be able to push back the borders of the Wyld but it is always there, it is limitless and so are the Fair Folk. Only those whose power is equally limitless, whose power is drawn from it can hope to successfully fight against it. To this end she made her Chosen, to fight against the Wyld in many ways, each one was an aspect of her nature. The weakness of the Lunar host caused by the Wyld Hunt precipitated the creation of the Silver Faction who were determined never to risk Creation being swallowed up by the Wyld ever again. Lunars are still vulnerable to the forces the Sidereals can put against them. Although they can escape Fate by entering the Wyld, it is their natural battle ground, they need human contact as much as anyone and part of their duty is to lead people to fight against the Wyld with them. Hence Arvida's expedition that created the Haslanti League by leading ice walkers to rediscover the lost wonders of Tzatli.

Dragon-Blooded and the Immaculate Order

The Dragon-Blooded know that they cannot be greater than the Solars. Although by the time of their decline they were no longer recognisable as the Lawgivers the Unconquered Sun gave his blessing to. The 'Immaculate Dragons' were the first to discover the possibility that Terrestrial Exalted could practice Celestial martial arts and each created one of the Five Glorious Dragon styles based on their animas. A tradition that Immaculate Monks maintain to this day.
The Immaculate Philosophy is the greatest cultural and philosophical achievement of the Dragon-Blooded for it gives them a way to control Essence in the same fashion as Celestial Exalted albeit within the purview of martial arts alone. To learn it the student must internalise and understand the writings on the sacred scrolls of the Immaculate Order, written by the Immaculate Dragons themselves, after climbing to the Order's temple on the slopes of the Heavenly Mountain and while undergoing years of punishing training to help them comprehend their lessons. One of the monks' favourite exercises is making their pupils climb all the way down the slopes to the base of the mountain and collect water to bring all the way back up again.
The original purpose of the Solar Exalted had become long lost and their great war against the Primordials little more than myth by the time the Usurpation came. The age of the Lawgivers had long past. By then the Solars were all-powerful dictators, rulers of dark empires. The Immaculate personification of the Solars as evil spirits was to their best knowledge the truth. They could no longer be recognised as Solars but little more than evil demonic and omnipotent spirits. Generations of absolute power and obedience corrupted them so they thought nothing of making pacts with the most vile of demons. In fact by this time they found they had more in common with the hate-twisted Yozis than their distant patron.
The First Age can be divided into three broad sections. The Solars' victory over the Primordials and their consolidation of power over mankind, dubbed Lawgivers after receiving the Mandate from Heaven. The exploration of their true potential; this is when the Celestial Incarnae withdrew their attention from their Chosen and the Great Curse started to make itself known. The terrible zenith of their power and the nadir of the rule of mankind; the Solars had become twisted by their unspeakable, inhuman desire for glory. The Lunars were largely unable to stop them, tormented by their own inner natures. Some became willing allies of the Sun Children other had fallen in with the very people they were made to defend Creation against- the Fair Folk. Who cares what's happening in Creation when you can have everything you want in the Wyld. The Lunars' individualism had become narcissism, they cared nothing over what happened in Creation but abused their power to Shape the Wyld to satisfy every inhuman lust they could think of, often only venturing out to sate their whims with the bodies and souls of real people. Luna lost sight of her children being hardly able to distinguish them from the Fair Folk. Other more conscientious Lunars became throughly disillusioned with mankind and escaped the pervading corruption by living among kingdoms of animals, but still they had to wrestle with their own tainted desires.
Learning the ways of the Immaculate Order is to remove yourself from the constraints of your Terrestrial nature and try to attain godhood. Monks who have been initiated into the Order leave their old lives behind and take on a new name. Learning to use Celestial Essence is only the first step on the path.

In a very fundamental way Lunars are everything the Fair Folk are not. They have the potential for true creativity and innovation. These qualities are essential for them to live in the Wyld and are the basis for which the Lunar Exaltation choses it's host. In a way they are everything the Fair Folk pretend to be. Although in the Wyld what's 'pretend' is real.
An example of the mad Wyld spawned landscapes you find in the far east are the toxic jungles of Nausicaa.

Once again I disagree with the game canon on this. The Fair Folk should be capable of genuine creativity not merely restricted to copying. They live in a world where anything's possible. Why shoul they be confined to copying, especially when they lived in a time when there was nothing to copy.

Manual of Exalted Power: The Lunars

I wasn't very keen on the Lunars based on their description in the Exalted rulebook. Not that I didn't like the idea but I way they wrote about the Lunars didn't enthuse me. This didn't do much good even compared to that. It's not the description of the Lunars' powers that bothers me it's the various factors included in their background. The writers seem to have come into this with a colossal agenda, possibly based on the Garou from the World of Darkness, that the purpose of the Lunars is to protect Creation. This wouldn't be such a bad thing except like in the Abyssals they insist that this has to be the source of the character's motivation. The other major disappointment is the Silver Pact and their project, the Thousand Streams River. Even from an out of game perspective it has the abominable aim of creating a world that can exist without the Exalted, even the Lunars. They should have junked this whole book and started again. The Thousand Streams River takes the form of 'experiments' that Lunars perform on societies, primarily barbarian ones, there's a distinct antipathy towards civilisation in the character of the Lunars as if that would endear them to readers. These take the form of all sorts of half arsed dabbling that characterises the Lunars as sociologists. How this monumentally crap idea got into print is a mystery.
Unlike the Solars who are given the power and the inclination to do whatever they want, a trait that should have been portrayed even more in the Lunars, the players' choices are considerably restricted. For one thing the Lunars are still an organisation unlike the Solars or Abyssals and the way the younger members are treated is rather patronising like they were at a kindergarte while the senior members talk about the real business. Their powers themselves aren't bad (although don't have the potential or the juice of the Abyssals') but if the Dragon-Blooded were more animalistic then their powers would have to be different. This would be a good thing because then they could be more orientated towards the Wyld which would be far more suitable. As such there are some powers that deal with the Wyld but not many and not in the way they could have dealt with it. As always making this book in colour would have been advantageous considering it's importance. The way they make the flow diagrams for Knacks is good, using dark colours to distinguish them, but it's something they should also have done for Charms. Writing Attribute Charms the same way as ability Charms makes abilities seem rather cheap by comparison.
Although this book is still useful, including at the end additional Wyld mutations including derrangements and Wyld diseases, they could still have done a much better job and the way they portray Lunar society isn't going to do storytellers' of characters' visions any good. When I bought the Abyssals I was disappointed that I couldn't realise the characters I had in mind the way I wanted to. I don't even have much desire to make characters based on this book. Altogether this is a creative failure and unfortunately for such an important group there's nothing else you can use in it's place. The Lunars would be far better portrayed as individuals, which in a way they are but in an annoying turnaround their society is strangely restrictive. If you have better visions of what the Lunars should be don't bother with this and use your own ideas.
As a few final points, to use the example of the Haslanti League in particular, human organisations in Exalted that seem to be doing things for themselves are all too often the result of some other party' scheming rather than the result of originality such as the Angry Ghosts of Scroll of the Monk. The way the Haslanti League believe they're making genuine technological advances and rediscoveries but are actually being led to them by Lunars is another example of such supernatural manipulation. This is especially out of place since the Lunars are trying to make self sufficient societies (I believe that a core of Lunar characters is that they should be self sufficient or at least individual) but guiding them all the while. It's very annoying. You'd wish that people could make their own discoveries and that it wouldn't be down to Exalted and other supernaturals to do everything, but at the same time they wouldn't do anthing as stupid as creating a world that didn't need them since they are in fact here and they're doing this all themselves. The very fact that people haven't created a world that doesn't need the Exalted proves they are required as if that needed saying. Secondly they have some sort of antipathy towards civilisation (despite the fact it makes humanity strong- look at Lookshy, they're not a bunch of club wielding neanderthals) and seem happy to debase humanity by breeding it with beast stock to create beastmen rather than humans. A final point is their relationship to the Solar Exalted. The Chosen of Luna were marked by a 'strong preference for individualists, iconoclasts and outsiders.' Especially considering the ways of their goddess why would they be so bonded to the Solars? It seems to go against everything the Lunars (should) stand for. Why would Luna want her champions to be seconds and partners dominated by other Exalted. It's far more fitting and desirable that they should have the opposite role. On a related point their demanded affinity for Creation is somewhat misplaced as well. I know Luna was Gaia's consort (although it was Gaia's loyalty that brought her into the rebellion, there's no reason the two of the shared exactly the same ideals.) In the section about the Charms the Lunars seem more like Chosen of Gaia than Chosen of mercurial Luna. The Chosen of Gaia are by extension the Dragon-Blooded who I think would be better served by animalistic Charms rather than pure elemental ones in the way that they are described.

Those Who Wake Under the Moon

Only in the absence of the Sun's gaze is Luna's glory evident. Under the dark sky when mortals are dreaming and Fair Folk are lured by their hunger Lunars stir.
The Wyld doesn't endanger Lunars any more than their Essence does. The Fair Folk are things made from the Wyld that have made themselves lies to exist in Creation. Lunars are Creation-born who've become host to an Essence that contains Wyld energy and connects with their own soul. This interaction between their soul, their identity as a being and the fusion of Wyld Essence with it through the intergration of their Exaltation is what makes shapeshifting possible. Through changing their now mutable Essence they can change their physical form.

Friday, 10 June 2011

With the exception of Social Attributes Lunars can learn attributes and their Charms on their own. They don't need outsiders to teach them. Even with Social Attributes, because they are so innate the Lunar improves them by interacting with others, not being trained. One cannot change what someone is, the level Lunar Charms work on, with outside training. Learning Charms and Knacks is a development of the Lunar's self.
"the raksha takes hold of the malleable reality around him and shapes it to fit the story of his existence."
Maybe what all Lunars desire is freedom. This is what gives the Wyld Lunar Essence the ability to bond with them and what gives them the desire to use it.
"most are inconsistent even in defining their own inherent qualities." It is this reliance on their inherent qualities that allows Lunars to survive in the Wyld since they live by what they are not what they are defined as within Creation. It' also what attracts a Lunar Exaltation to a host. In fact they need their Attributes to be able to understand and act in the Wyld. To say Lunars are less powerful than Solars is to misunderstand their purpose. They are less powerful than Solars in Creation, which is not the realm  for which they were made. Just as the raksha are able to pass through the Gate of Sundraprisha and take on a physical form that lets them exist within Creation, so the Lunars' Essence is made from the stuff of the Wyld, extending it's power through their body and allowing the Lunar to shape it for their own purpose. They fact that they can change shape in Creation is just a side effect. Because of it they can enter the Wyld and become part of it like the Unshaped Fair Folk.
The basic Charms of a Celestial Hero martial art are just a way of attaining an understanding of the style's true precepts that allows them to learn the later (Exalted type) Charms.
The Wyld is a realm so inchoate and ephemeral that notions can become 'real.' As the Fair Folk can make such abstract things real, so the Lunars can turn real things including themselves into abstractions that can live within the Wyld. Or rather they can turn physical things into expressions. The most important is their beastman or Spirit Shape- nothing more than what they are as an idea- that can enter the Wyld freely. Many Lunars prefer to wear it in Creation than their human shape. Through the Sacred Hunt and the use of Knacks they learn to express themselves in different ways. A Lunar can do this at any time due to the Wyld Essence in their Exaltation that makes their body a small Wyld zone, but their true potential is only revealed once they enter the Wyld, or use their powers against those within it. For instance in  normal circumstances the Lunars' Excellencies are far weaker than the Solars', more akin to the Dragon-blooded except more flexible. Since many Fair Folk powers work in conflict with a being's Attribute + Essence however Lunar Excellencies are ideal.
"The first thing to understant when creating a raksha character is to understand that everything about the character is a deception engineered wo facilitate an interaction between and shaped being of Creation and and an entity so far removed from Creation as to be utterly beyond mortal comprehension." In the first part Lunars must be the opposite. They must open themselves up and be so honest that their intentions can exist in and of themselves. In the second they have to so the same. Although Lunars cannot become the same unformed masses that dwell within the Wyld they are able enough to attune with this realm that they are able to become like a part of one. Although the Fair Folk would be able to tell the difference a Lunar can exist within the Wyld (with enough practise) as easily as an Unshaped Fair Folk' Emanation. The most powerful and skilled Lunars are able of venturing into Pure Chaos.
Magical materials make for more potent stuff for creating in the Wyld. By far the best for this purpose is moonsilver.

Wednesday, 1 June 2011

It's this emphasis on fundamental expression, rather than expression through a particular medium which is the cause of the Lunars' ability to enter and become part of the Wyld because they are literally able to express themselves; and the reason their powers are based on attributes. They are unrestrained by the notion of using a framework. That's what attracts a Lunar Exaltation to a host.

Tuesday, 24 May 2011

What greater Knack could there be than the potential to change into any shape at will? The Exalted is marked with the secret Primordial Word for Luna. By activating this Knack they can transform their whole being into sentience and moonsilver.
This Knack allows the Lunar to maintain a physical form, which is basically made out of Wyld Essence, while in the Wyld. In this shape they can hunt through the Wyld and engage in physical combat while within it. Pure moonsilver Warstriders can also accomplish this.
Those who are individual and mindful enough to accept them are given Lunar Exaltation. They are given apparently limitless power to make themselves anything they desire. Their natural realm is the Wyld and it's their task to endlessly hunt it for Fair Folk who threaten Creation as Luna did before them.
A full carapace of moonsilver can allow a warrior to maintain a physical form of sorts in the Wyld rather than having to transmute themselves into an abstract notion as the Lunars are capable of doing (turning their own identity into an abstract notion) to exist within the Wyld without their physical form being ruined. Maybe this is the true significance of their Spirit Shape. Ghosts, gods and demons can exist as Essence and naturally belong in other dimensions. Lunars can do the same thing. Their Spirit Shape is a Wyld Essence pattern formed expressing their own identity by the transmuting power of the Lunar Essence within them. They can exist in Creation in this form but naturally belong in the Wyld in it. It can exist as a coherent identity within the Wyld. The only thing other than a moonsilver form that can do so.

Masters of Unreality

Just as the Wyld is made of possibilities, it is a place where possibilities are very real, Lunars learn to extrapolate those possibilities in their own heads into the Wyld to change it. It is this characteristic that allows them to change their own form through their Lunar Essence, which is like a part of the Wyld within them. They have the same effect over moonsilver as well. They can make it into anything they want. For all their association with the Wyld the Lunars are the opposite of the Fair Folk. They are not an existential antithesis like iron is to them, but are fundamentally opposed to them.
   Solar Exalted- Lords of Creation
Many Lunars prefer the Wyld to Creation as it is a place they can change to their own whim. However this can make them go insane and and become addicted to living in this ever changing Nether World or become dangerously isolated and unused to reality. Just as some Fair Folk become 'sane.' It's this ability to turn 'things' into abstractions that is the basis of their ability to combat the Fair Folk. They can reverse their physical forms and turn them back into the emotions and ideas they were in the Wyld. They can also learn to do the same to other things. As emotional intensity went into creating an object like a statue they can turn that object back into the emotions that created it and either hold those emotions inside them or release them in a psychic shockwave that floods the minds of everyone nearby. It's this ability to manipulate possibility although in the opposite way to the Fair Folk that lies at the root of all their Charms and gives them the ability to fight the Fair Folk in the way they do and is the reason they spend so much time in the Wyld where their powers are strongest. Just as the Fae can turn themselves as an intention into a physical form the Lunars can turn themselves as a physical form into an intention and so exist in the Wyld.
Accomplished Lunars see the Wyld as a playground where they can make any dream come true.
Some Lunars become experienced enough to extend their transformative powers into things they touch. Some can enlarge this effect into the surrounding area. Can moonsilver capture these intentions and turn them into powers for the Lunar to wield?

23rd April

The Haltans live in the treetops and sleep under the stars. So far to the east the trees grow far higher and more densely than they do elsewhere. The canopy is thick and blots almost all the light from the forest floor making it almost impossible to tell whether it's day or night. In this perpetual twilight lights of the Fair Folk glow in an unearthly wilderness unseen outside the Wyld.

Lunars' spirit shapes don't have to be ordinary, conventional animals. One of them assumed the shape of a giant, twelve legged cat. Some of them aren't even animals that exist in Creation. Such are the expressions of the Chosen of Luna. Knacks are expressions of the Lunar given form by their protean nature.

Black Magitech- communication device, skulls that talk. Two people have them and when one of them says something their skull can hear the other skull says it.

   Life in Yu-Shan- Spirited Away

Some Lunars gain names from their spirit shape. Like the wingless Flying Wolfdragon.

If the thing a god has domain over is lost they lose their power and influence and end up in the slums begging for Essence.
All the gods naturally live in Yu-Shan and sometimes visit Creation to spend time in their domain. Elementals live in Creation and carry out the wishes of the gods who can instruct them immediately from Heaven.

22nd April

Some artefacts dating from the Primordial Age were created by the Incarnae when they walked Creation. Some more recent ones were stolen from, or smuggled out of Heaven. What of the artefacts made by the Primordials themselves like the Eye of Autochthon? Other artefacts dare back to Exalted heroes from the Primordial War.

Some believe that Dark Messiah Style is the key to destroying Creation and releasing the Primordials from their torment into Oblivion. Only the Abssals can learn this style, it's Charms elude even the ghostly Deathlords. Some believe the very Exalted who slew them are destined to become masters of this style.

Their power to alter what they are the deeper they go into the Wyld means the deeper in the Wyld they are the stronger their transformative power are.
In the Deep Wyld they can use a Knack which allows them to become unshaped like one of the Fair Folk. The ability given to them by their Lunar Essence to make their forms inconstant allows them to travel the Wyld without being permanently mutated and venture into it's dimentionless depths without going mad.
Their moonsilver 'tattoos' are gifts from Lunar, marks of their god in Old Realm that appear on their bodies when they learn a new Knack. Learning a Knack involves meditation on Luna and a popular belief is that only those who gain her favour learn a Knack. Luna's powers like the Wyld have infinite potential. She knows every Knack and shared her knowledge with those who commune with her. Learning a new Knack is for a Lunar like learning a spell is for a Solar, learning a new way to exert their will on Creation. Solars have the power of will. Lunars have the power of transformation, power over their identity. Sidereals have the power of Destiny. Why isn't destiny an element of Sidereal Martial Arts?

5th March

At one time the Elemental Dragons dwelt in their borders of Creation, each of them shoring it up against the Wyld. Then they were destroyed by the Primordials.
During this time Creation was well ordered and each element was in it's place. Water in the West, Ice in the North, Wood in the centre, Fire in the South and Earth in the East.
The Dragons exuded Elemental Essence. Slowly their shattered Essence gathered and coalesced back into spirits.
Essence in Magnitude x Essence of original being
Total magnitude = Essence of original being
Most woodland people are actually very nautical, rivers are the roads of the woods as they are far easier to travel through than dense forest.
They returned at various points in Creation creating a wild, more chaotic landscape. Also the absence of the mighty Dragons along Creation's edge made it more vulnerable to the Fair Folk. Although their place was taken by some Lunar Exalted (perhaps they were created during the Primordial war when the Primordials destroyed the Dragons leaving Creation's borders dangerously unguarded. The Lunars were designed to live in the Wyld at the boundaries of reality.) The bodies of the Fair Folk are a Shaping Effect. What if the bodies of the Lunars are real but Lunar Essence like moonsilver is a Shaping effect (in actuality it would be more the other way round- the Lunars are to the Wyld what the Fair Folk are to Creation.) The Fair Folk need to take on a physical form to exist in Creation, they can't exist as naturally transforming, inchoate Essence except in Free Holds. What is the nature of Lunar Essences, moonsilver and the Lunars themselves. How do they manage their unique ability of shapeshifting (the ability way be an essential part of their function, just as Fair Folk become real enough to live in Creation the Lunars become unshaped enough to live in the Wyld, as a result they can change their form just by thinking about it.) A power remarkably like the materialisation of the Fair Folk but in reverse. Instead of coalescing Essence into endless variations they make solid matter endlessly protean.

Lunar Exalted some might be tragic hedonists like Gia whose sheer vitality caught Lunar's attention.

Beastman Transformation

30th March Beastman Transformation doesnt have to transform into a war form. Beastman doesn't mean a crude combination of a human and animal. Becoming a beastman means transforming into a humanoid version of an animal that can speak with humans. They can learn beastman forms for other animals with additional Knacks. Beastman transformation means becoming a much more elegant combination of animal and human that is mostly animal. Like Chihiro in Little Norse Prince. Their beastman form is their natural spirit shape. They can express themselves through facial expression as well as speech, walk on two legs or move like animals and have unusual dexterity with their paws. When in their natural forms they do not use their moonsilver tattoos so these are less visible.
Their alteration of Attributes while in animal form, possibly to the detriment of values makes them more dependent on Abilities. Should they have Ability based Charms?

Man O' War Touch

The merest touch from a Lunar can bring agonising death.
